Nathan Glöckle graduated from Winona State University with a degree in Spanish, received his masters of education in Spanish Language and Cultures at the University of Salamanca, Spain, and earned his administrative licensure at St. Mary’s University.

There have been many diverse educational opportunities in Duluth Public Schools where he has served as an administrator for the last 17 years. Nathan was a part of an administrative team who helped merge Denfeld and Duluth Central into 1 high school in 2010. Back in 2012 while only a few months on the job at Laura MacArthur Elementary, the school was identified as a persistently low performing elementary school and named a “Priority School” (bottom 5% of all Title I schools in the state) by the Minnesota Department of Education.

After 3 years, the school had transformed its practices and moved to “Reward School” status, (top 15% of Title 1 schools in the state). Ten years after leading a “Priority School,” he has found himself in a similar situation at Duluth’s Area Learning Center.

The ALC has been identified twice as a school not meeting graduation requirements and is identified as a school needing “Comprehensive Support.” No matter which school Nathan has been a part of, he has found the key to success has been meeting staff and students where they are at in their educational journey.

Under his leadership at each school, there has been a push to become a “learning organization,” adapting to the ever changing needs of their diverse student population by implementing a plan, do, study, act cycle of continuous improvement and restorative practices.

Nathan keeps his sanity by remaining grounded with his family. He married his high school sweet heart, Heather and have 3 beautiful children, Maddy 21, Jack 19, and Avery 11. He currently resides in Hermantown.
